Easy Dutch Oven Chili Recipe

This easy chili recipe combines ground beef and beans in a Dutch oven, with a kick from dried chiles for extra flavor!

If you prefer a milder flavor, reduce the amount of chili peppers or choose milder varieties. If you want to make it spicier, consider adding extra chili powder, cayenne pepper, jalapeno peppers, poblano peppers or red pepper flakes. If you to make this a vegetarian chili recipe, you can completely omit the meat and replace it with plant-based protein instead.

Ingredients

Trim the stems and discard some seeds from the dried chilies. Place them in a blender and cover them with approximately 2 cups of boiling water.

After soaking, blend the softened chilies until a smooth consistency is achieved.

Heat bacon fat in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add bell pepper, onion and garlic, 1 teaspoon salt and pepper and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Add garlic and cook for about a minute, making sure it doesn’t burn. Then stir in tomato paste and cook another 2 minutes.
